Question OEM Oxygen Sensor or Bosch?

I replaced both upper O2 sensors with Bosch sensors about 8m ago on my 98 ford 5.4L. I took the light bulb out of my check engine light as it would continue to come on about every 4-5 days after I hooked the truck up to a computer and read that no codes were present. I would clear the codes and memory and all would be fine for another 4-5 days when the light would come back on. I just changed the plugs the other day and decided to hook the computer up to check for any problems and the computer tells me that the upper O2 sensors that I changed are running lean. By the looks of the plugs that I took out I believe it. They were all white on the ends. I checked with a friend who works at a local Ford dealership, and he told me to take out the Bosch o2 sensors and replace them with OEM o2 sensors, he says they have alot of problems with the Bosch sensors and that they are junk. Has anyone had any problems like this.

I recently replaced my original O2 sensors, they had "BOSCH" stamped on them.

I think I remember reading before that Bosch is what they use as OEM.

I got a good price for on Bosch replacements at Autozone.

This is going to sound a little funny considering how much I hate Bosch plugs but Bosch 02's are actually really good. Ted 98 is right they are OEM on many manufacturers cars. I sell those at work and I've had very few complaints yet. Other than price sometimes.

NGK is another supplier. I know because I work for them. Our quality rate is pretty high. Problem is, we do not cater to the aftermarket yet.

Neal about 9 months ago confirmed that the Ford OEM O2 sensors are Bosch sensors.

Your firend that works at the dealership might want to find out what he is saying before saying it. My 2001 had Bosch stamped on them ( took them out while welding on the duals just in case ).

If you are running lean, you might want to search on the code number, and take a look through the soultions that members have posted on this, it has come up a few times.

When searching, change the last digit of the code to an * to find all of the posts ( lean for left and right bank ).

Neal, everyone who has replied is correct, Bosch is OEM on most Fords. Hopefully your friend doesn't actually repair vehicles at that Ford store.
