Roushfan? JLP intake?

Hey Roush, i thought i remember seeing pics of your engine bay, with a JLP ram air box, and a chrome intake tube?

I thought you said your tube wasn't from an AF1 (like i've got) but i was wondering, do you think it would be possible to hook up a JLP intake ram air box onto the chrome tube from my AF1 intake? Like how much work did it take for you to do on your truck. any drilling/cutting to get stuff to fit?

or if anybody else can help me out here? I should have talked to Johnny or Sue on saturday when i had the chance, but i forgot all about it

thanks

Hi Josh....Haven't talked to you in a while!!! Boy your really going to town with your H.D. !! So much for keeping it stock ..hehh..hehh...I have a WMS intake tube and a JLP air box..To make it fit i needed to cut the end of the tube heading towards the fender down about an inch and a half..Because the JLP box is pretty long...Your MAF bolts right up to the box with no problem...Looking at your pic i'm not sure how that's going to work with the AF1 tube bucause of how the tube expands near the end? I would get a measurement of the box and figure out where it will fit up in your engine bay between the fender wall and your tube...I'll try to get some #'s to you tomorrow in your email....For now check my gallery for an idea of what your dealing with..

Thanks for the info Roush. I won't be doing this mod for a few months, but its on my list, i'll have to have Johnny check out my truck at the next track meet that i go to and see what he says.

LoL, well i still am keeping all the stock parts, so if i ever want to, i can go all back to stock. Put the smoothed side steps on last weekend to match the smoothed endcaps, and i'm also getting a new hood. Selling my cervini's

Anyway, here's a pic of my intake

whoa that pic is old. LoL. anyway, looks like my AF1 tube extends alot further to the drivers side than yours does, now i'm thinking the box might not fit

how much was your tube? and whats it made out of? does it come already polished? Might have to do a little more custom modding here :db: let me know where you ordered it from
thanks for the info

Josh..... I wanted to do the same install that Roush did in my 2001 SuperCrew. I talked to Johnny about it maybe 6 months ago, and he kinda indicated that he was considering offering an intake tube for us "non-supercharged" guys to go along with his box. You might want to remind him of our conversation. If he's going to add this option, I'll also be changing out my intake for a JLP box.

Well, i emailed back and forth with JL last night about 3 or 4 times about the intake. They said they make a box for the F150 now and have sold about 20 kits. THey said it will work with my chrome AF1 tube, so i'm not sure if the box is shorter or what. I'm not doing this mod right away (probably not until early may....new hood coming 1st) but i'll call them when the time gets closer and post about everything
