Dont think your expy is an AWD maybe 4x4, if you are trying to find speed in 4wd you wont! that is for better traction and off road use...

Possibilities:

1) Your MAF has never been cleaned
2) Your running reformulated gasoline
3) Your running 3.55 limited slip axle
4) Your fuel filter needs changing
5) Your dual exaust pipes are too big
6) The Expidition has weight over the rear wheels.
7) All of the above

I had a 5.4 in a SuperCab with 3.73 rear axle, and struggled to keep the wheels on the ground with regular gasoline.

My current 5.4 SuperCrew with 3.55 axle running reformulated gas with a dirty MAF has great traction, even in the rain.

I cleaned the MAF and returned home on a tank of reqular gas, and the tires are slipping a bit on wet roads until the limited slip kicks in.

Also what size and type of tires are you running and what is your gear ratio? You may even have the 3:30 gears which are dog gears off the line they are made for fuel economy.

Don't expect to have that much performance out of your expy stock. If you're really looking for some power, get a kenne-bell for it.

Yea, if you have the 3.31 gears, you are definitely going to have a hard time on take off. Install some 3.73 gears.

Plus, I dont believe you have the P.I. heads, so don't expect too much out of it.

You will not get a chirp with AWD. For a vehicle the weight of an Expy, you would need about twice the power that the 5.4L puts out to get any slipping on dry pavement under acceleration.
