Oil Usage

What is normal oil usage. I have a 1998 Ford F150 4X4 with the 4.6. It has 128,000 on it. I checked the oil tonight and it was down a quart. It is 400 miles from its next oil change. Should i worry about it using a quart. It doesn't smoke at all, at least not that i have seen, and it leaves no puddle, but i did notice some fresh oil on power steering lines tonight. It was oil, not powersteering fluid. An help is appreaciated.

I believe what is considered normal is for 1qt of oil per 3,000 miles.

Oli usage

My 5.4L 01 XLT Sport seems to have a taste for the Mobil 1 5W-30 I've been running in it. I see no leaks, yet uses at least half of a quart and maybe more in between 7,000 mile oil changes. 24,000 miles on it. Seems like high oil consumption to me. No blue smoke anywhere.

the same...

The same 1 qrt between 3000 mi oil change for mine F150. Running 5W30 Valvoline. Around 124,000 miles.
Sometimes I add it, sometimes not. Have to add though if the truck *pings* at startup.
Alex.
