To me, those arent really worth the money. I work at Valvoline instant oil change, and ive only burned myself once and that was when dealing with an oil filter in a horrible spot. Unless youve been driving around for a while, the oil will not be hot in your truck. If you are afraid to get dirty or burned doing an oil change, you shouldnt be doing it.

They are the best thing since sliced bread if you are a DIYer! DO NOT however buy the fram one. Look online for the FUMOTO Drain valve. If you have a 4x4 get the one with the hose n!pple on it so that you can put a length of hose on it and put it right into your container!

I can change the oil on my truck and my wife's minivan in less than 1/2 an hour with no tools.

I have had Fumoto valves on all 3 of my vehicles for over 2 years and have never ever had a problem. And no they will not come open if you go wheelin.

It is if some place has stripped your plug then pointed fingers and you ended up picking up the bill. I have, about $350 or so for a new oil pan. I'll make 'em drink oil those ****ers, sorta like in the Fast n Furious.

Do not get the Fram quick change plug, they are terrible, it takes about 2 hours or more to drain the oil with one of them. The FUMOTO would be the one I would recommend if you want the quick change valve.

I agree, the Fumoto valve is worth every penny. I really like the valve with the nipple on it to drain from my truck into a container but it hangs too low to be used on the wife's car, so I have a regular valve on the car.

The Fram gizmo looks pretty crappy.

I have the Sure Drain on my truck and it works fine. Drains as fast as the Fumoto. I always drain my oil when the engine is warm. The Sure Drain type of product has been out for years. I know people are Anti-Fram but they are just the latest company to sell this product. It is not a new idea. It does leave a little oil in the pan but so does the Fumoto.

Norm,

I was going to ask if they leave any oil in the pan. Just by their design it looked like they could.

they leave very little. my fumoto valves threads are maybe 1-2 threads longer than the threads in the reinforced plug hole on the oil pan.

Well if a place has a stripped drain plug, they replace it. At Valvoline, if the plug is just barely rounded, we replace it for free. And if it gets completely rounded, we have a belt wrench to get it off. If that doesnt work, we have our other tricks, but we will get the plug out. Also, if the threads in the pan are stripped, we have a thing that replaces the plug. What it is is a cap that screws into a seal, and it is held into the existing drain hole by an aligator clip. Its a free part if it is ever needed, which is very seldom.

If you do buy the drain plug valve, i would recommend putting a crush seal between the valve and the pan. So when you put the valve on, it crushes the gasket and makes a perfect seal and will not leak. This would be good if it will be on there for a long time. It will need to be replaced if you take it off. All Hondas and Accuras have crush seals, and we replace them free of charge on ever oil change. So dont say quick change places screw you over, at least not Valvoline.
