I think I found a problem with an ignition wire!

I went outside today to check my wires (make sure they were seated correctly, none crossed anywhere), and the one on the passenger side all the way to the back of the engine was wet, and it doesn't even have 1 mile on it yet. Could this be my problem? Look at this and see what you think.

Brand new wire.

Is there something leaking on it? How do I fix this?
I have a 97 4.6 4X4 Auto.
Thanks for any help that y'all can give me!

It started fouling out at about 10,000 miles after the plug/wire change, so I changed just wires, did not help it at all.
This is one of the brand-new wires.

Looks kinda green. Is that coolant leaking? Are you losing coolant? Its pretty obvious that this is causing your miss, but where is it coming from?

I have the exact smae truck as you. Exactly and the problem looks like the same one I had. It is coolant dripping onto the wire and seaping down and causing an arc and misfire. Directly above the plug wire are two hoses that route coolant to and from the heater core. The culprit is probably one of the crappy little clams used on the hose. This would be the first place I would look. As soon as I fixed the clamp and replaced the plug wire on mine the problem was fixed. I now have 112,000 miles on the beast and it is still running great!

crashz, yes, it is coolant. This is the weird part, my truck has moved from one side of my house to the other since the new wires were installed, and unless it is leaking pretty bad, it would not have had time to leak that much down onto it. Maybe it did, it is the only way I can see anything has gone on like that.

rick_k1974, I will change the hoses, clamps, that plug and wire before I even attempt to start it again, and I am glad that someone else had the same problem. Not that I am glad that someone had a problem with their truck, but I am very happy to see that it isn't only me. I will post back and let you know if this fixed my problem or not, but I sure hope that it will! Thanks again!
