Egr

I replaced the IAC on my 95 5.8 It ran good for a day, then it started shifting hard and running weird and the check engine light came on. My boy took it to auto zone and they said it was an EGR code. We replaced the EGR but it did not help. When you start it, it stumbles like you turn the key off and on. When the boy replaced the EGR, the tube it attaches to broke. He has it back together where it fits good and he was going to seal it up just to be sure. Could this still be the problem or a sensor or vac leak? What's the best way to check for a vac leak and where is the main tree on a 95? Thanks

you need to clean the entire egr system not just the valve. the valve and the iac were prolly fine.

the hose the egr valve should be replaced not fixed. it is old and when the vac pressure gets high it collapses on its self

What is involved with cleaning the system and where can I find out how to do it. The tube is metal that the valve is attached to, he said he was afraid of striping it out where it attaches at the manifold.

that tube is it! don't worry you wont strip it. just take your time and use some kroil or liquid wrench.
