Question Intake manifold question

Guys -

I want to use the Derale electric fan thermostat with the 3/8" MPT fitting for the activation of my electric fans.

I was looking on the manifold of my 'Screw and notice a pipe plug, directly behind the alternator, with an Allen wrench head. It looks like it might be the right size, so...

I was wondering if anyone has a manual that says or has knowledge as to what thread that plug hole is.

I don't want to remove the plug to check because I don't have any way of identifying what size the plug is, without being at a Home Depot to compare the plug and get an exact match.

2001 'Screw, 5.4L, towing package...

TIA for any help...

Cool

For anyone wishing to use it, it is a 3/8" MPT fitting. Using this spot for the sending unit, my new Auto Meter temperature gauge reads right at 195* when the truck is running...

sending unit hole

b man,

i was wandering when you refer to the 3/8 hole behind the alternator was that hole empty because on my 97 f150 4.6 it has a sensor in it i was wanting to install an accurate temp guage and came across your thread stating that there was a hole behind the alternator that could be used for the sending unit on the new guage but as i stated the hole behind my alternator has a sensor installed maybe it for the factory temp guage. thanks in advance for any help. john
