Post Ford to upgrade Triton V10 6.8L??

I have the March/April '03 issue of Truck Trend and it show the 5.4L being upgraded to 300hp and 365lb-ft torque! A 15% increase in hp and 5% hike in torque. I'm sure everybody already knows this.

The article says the V10 and 4.6L will get the new 3-valve heads in the next few years but they didin't mention any numbers. Anybody heard any rumors about the V10's upgrade?

Right now it's rated for 310hp/425lb-ft. Going by the same % upgrades the 5.4L will get the 6.8L V10 would get bumped up to 355hp and 455lb-ft torque! Hopefully it will still have alot of power at the low rpms it has now.

Not that it matters since I plan to own my current SD for some time but I'm still anxious to see what Ford does with the V10.

With my luck it will be in 04 just after I buy my 03. Same thing happened to me in 99 when the 00's came out...

I heard that they waitiong for the 06 model to restyle the truck. Maybe they are also waiting to upgrade the V10 at that time, but...

Lightbulb Maybe even a V12??

I think the article said the upgraded 6.8L will be available for the 2005 models and the new SD design will be out for 2006.

The salesman where I bought my F250 tells me rumor has it that that the Triton 5.4/6.8 modular block will be expanded to a 8.2L V12 for the re-design. The current design doesn't have enough engine bay space for it but the new ones will. If they do produce that engine it should be in the 360hp/500lb-ft range!

Like I said-just a rumor. Some guys were talking about it at another pickup forum a few months ago too.

The Ford 427 Concept Sedan has a 427 HP V-10 under the hood. It's not a bad looking car, for a 4-door. I like the new GT 40 much better though.
