Talking Another Classic save...READ!!!

Remember how I pulled down my driveshaft? (well, the middle bearing thingy anyway) Well, it came down so far, and stopped...I WD-40'd It, and whacked it with a hammer to loosen the treads, but it was NOT coming...So i just killed it with the ratchet, and snapped a safety clip that was the whole problem to begin with...Big uh-oh...Now, It wont go back in either...So what do i do? WHAT-DO-I-DO...DUN DUN DUN!!!!!

First of all, I went and got a good friend of mine, Stanley. Good old Stanley is about a foot and a half long, and 6 inches wide, with a circular abrasive disk at the front. That's right, I'm talkin about a grinder baby!!! Whoooo!! So i ground that little basta®rd bolt down to just a shaft (no head) And proceeded to flick it out of my way. Victory was mine! Yesss!!! I then grabbed a bolt (metric, 17mm) and put it into the hole, with one lockwasher on top, and one under the nut at the bottom. I tightened till I could tighten no more, and then for extra saftey i put another lockwash overtop of the nut, and a nut on top of that. You follow? gooooooood....Anyway, It is better than new, and i performed a classic 'save' once again...Lemme know whatcha think of this, and Tell me about any saves you guys have pulled!

Neal-

LMAO !! You are a funny guy...

I once saw a picture in an engine rebuilding book. Some guy put a pry bar into an intake port of a 350 Chevy to "break it loose" from the head gasket.

Guy must have been a monster, because he had not removed the entire row of bolts along the exhaust side of the head and he snapped the head lengthwise along the exhaust bolts !!

1994f150XLT-

No flame intended, but...

Do your truck and yourself a favor and buy a shop manual for your ride(s). I almost destroyed the fuel line connectors on my '98 F150 trying to change the filter. After a few minutes of struggle, it dawned on me that it just couldn't be that hard. A few minutes at AutoZone and I had the proper tool and know-how to not injure my truck or myself.

As much as I like to bust the Ford designer's stones, they don't make everything hard on purpose.

The two razzing you are your fellow countrymen.
They are also the first two to help anybody.

If you want, we will trade four Lightning owners, two King Ranch Owners and future draft choice for the two of them.

1994,

Let me get this strtaight. So far you have tried a tune up, taken off the drive shaft support bearing and tried to remove the front coils. Is this your warm up to the Mercedes?

No, I need that. My first car was a Plymouth Fury and I want to rebuild my youth.

I'll start with that bumper and when I get it straightened out I'll holler for those Canada guys to tell me what to do next.

p.s. do you know the year? I had a 67 and a 70. Wouldn't want to build the wrong car.

1994,

Clam down grasshopper..... You were off to a bad start with the whole Friday/Saturday race thing. I guess you must have ticked us off more than we first thought.

Regardless of what you may perceive of what we think of you, you are still getting the free advice. The pokes are an added feature at no charge. You should consider yourself privileged for this free service. Raoul charges for it. Wait till you see his bill. ROFL

It's 'criticizing'.
(sorry, couldn't resist that one)

I went back and looked at the thread and no one has called you a moron or idiot. If you want help when Dad is away, don't burn your bridges.

People will sometimes have fun at your expense, use it to toughen yourself up and become less sensitive while at the same time gaining valuable vehicle info.

p.s. those guys are jealous because they want that Mercedes.
