From what I have read you can clean it, but it only works for a short time again. I have never tried cleaning one myself, to know if it would work at all, let alone for a little bit.

If you do a search on IAC* for the min length required by search, you should find a few posts on this.

I just replaced mine last week. Seems like the $67 I paid for it was worth not having to worry about it crapping out again. It is also rediculously easy to replace...5 minute job.

Starting with my 2000, I have cleaned mine 2times in 3 years. 12 months ago was the 1st time. As mentionned it is very easy to remove. I use either Engine degreaser and water followed by WD40 to remove the water or simple Throttle Body cleaner alone. I am still ahead of $67.00 US, to boot. How long this last cleaning will last, only time will tell.

Regards

I'm cheaper than you!

About three years ago I discovered that toilet paper has two sides.
I must be ahead at least $8 US by now.

He is not NUTS, he is challenged.
I won't even specify how, as that would make for a post that rivals the length of Mike Troyer's posts.

My OE valve p/n says F65Z-9F715-GA. The one I just got at the Ford parts counter says F65Z-9F715-HA. Must have been a minor upgrade. In specing it he needed tranny type 2 or 4wd and engine size.

The valve also says CX-1874.

jwrape,

If you look closely at the last picture it is the same as the first. Note the setting on the ratchet. It is set to undo in both pictures.

Thanks JMC!
That explains why I couldn't complete the last step and had to get her towed in.
