Where is the IAC?
Where is the IAC?
OK, I know the IAC is on the throttle body. I cleaned the butterfly in my tb, but I am not sure what is the IAC. I also want to know what part is the EGR? I assume the EGR is where the large metal pipe from the exhaust connects to. The service cd won't let me search for it and I am getting lost. Pictures would be great or a physical description would be good too.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Wow!
I don't remember seeing anything like that! I will have to take a closer look. I didn't remove anything off the intake when I worked on the head, so I really only looked at the vacuum connections. Am I right on the EGR?
dnale,
Yes the EGR is the one with the long pipe.
On your CD; go to Groupe 3 POWERTRAIN
Click on section: 303-01B ENGINE 4.6L and 5.4L
Click on DESCREPTION AND OPERATION
Click on Engine Component View and scroll down till you see 4.6L Engine Induction System Components. Number 5 is the IAC and number 10 is the EGR valve.

You guys are great. How tough is the IAC to remove? Will I need a new gasket? Looks like just two bolts. (Of course they are blind and under the dash.) I didn't ever see that part on the cd.

The picture I posted was of mine. I took it off and cleaned it just befor scanning it this morning. The two bolts holding the IAC are 8mm. If you are careful you can reuse the gasket.
