Throttle Body Spacer Good or Bad ?
I just did a search for this and found tons of info. From all the posts that I have seen it is an over priced paperweight and is just a waste of money. I have also heard that it makes a nasty whistling sound sometimes. I would say save your money.
Thanks ! I did the search and found alot of information. Like if I feel like buying one and spending $100.00, I can just send the $100.00 to a couple of people on here and get the same HP for my Truck ! But I don't think I'm going to do that ! I think I will buy a chip and some Headers. Also do the Poor mans Mod to my air filter box.
Thanks Again
Thanks Again
The only application where a spacer has been reported to have done any good, is on the 4.2 that I've seen.
Chip, airbox and exhaust. Research before going to the trouble and expense of headers. If you do it, have a tuner reburn your chip (that you'll have by then) and from most accounts (again, that I've read), don't expect too much but possibly a loss of low end.

Here we go again. TB spacers that spin the air are a waste!! A smooth bore one will add plenium volume! Do they work, yes, will you feel it? maybe not. Adding plenium volume has been around for years, ever hear of a Tunnel ram?? or a carb spacer?
Look how long the runners were on the late model 5.0's. Longer runner increases velocity at lower engine speeds, the term is "Inerta Supercharging" using the speed and mass of the air to actually pack more air than the volume of the cylinder.
If you expect to bolt one on and feel a change, you may be dissapointed. The whole intake on these trucks is engineered to take advantage of the effect, adding a spacer may help on the bottom end at the cost of some airflow on the topend, you'd need a dyno to check it.
I have a Trick Flow phenolic smooth bore from summit, I got back some of the bottom end I gave up with my spintech exhaust, in my case I did in fact feel a difference. In a nut shell, they will generally help on the bottom end.
