power steering loss

My 98 F-150 4x4 has experianced temporary power steering loss several times, at speeds between 20mph to 40mph. I have been to the dealer once and they could not find any problems. Could it be my power steering pump or a sticking valve? The last time it happened I almost ended up in the ditch. Thanks for any ideas or help. RkyMtnBama

it prolly is the belt but also these PS systems move a lot of fluid and bubble and gurgle a lot and if the fluid is old/low an air bubble might have moved through the system.

Thanks for replies!

I have the esp coverage on my truck but none of y'alls replies sound like warranty items. I will probably have my local mechanic check it out. I also have found the dreaded door crack, arggh!
