Question 5.4 rattle

what is the rattle im hearin from my pickup it only happens between 1700 and 2000 rpm when im slowly excellerating in this range, it sounds like its commin from around the master cylinder its kind of embarrassing when i have someone riding with me and they ask me what it is, its loud but it doesnt seem loud enough to be commin off the cam, there isnt any preformance difference that i know of but its done this since ive had it, the only other problem is that im gettin about 11mpg with a 2wd 100% stock

i had an awful rattle at around 2100 rpms and sometimes randomly above and below it. I just found a small heat shield on the y-pipe that had a broken weld. I bent it about an inch away from the pipe and now no more rattle. Give it a look, it only takes a moment.
