Question What Type of Plug & Wire Set

Newbie Here,
Been lurking here for awhile reading posts on the spark plugs issues both blowing out and the replacement of. My question is for those of you with either the 4.6 or 5.4 that as successfully completed replacement of the spark plug and wires. What brand or type would be the absolute best to buy (plugs and wires)? Its time to change the family ride . 98 expe 4.6l I only want to deal with this issue one time.
thanks in advance

IMO, you should bite the bullet and let FORD change the plugs so that IF anything happens, its on them.

There are no wires to replace.

Hello FRDPOWR

It all depends on what your looking for? If you are not concerened with any performance gains I would just go with Motorcraft Factory Plugs and Wires. If you are looking for a little performance, I would suggest NGK Plugs and Accel Wires and Coil Packs. I also have to agree with Bikenut and say that it is kinda a difficult instalation. If you don't know exactly what your doing I would take it to a professional. I purchased my plugs and wires and took it to my local PEP BOYS and they did the install for me. Hope this helps out.

There are no plug wires, only coil packs.

The reason I say to have Ford do the work is so that in the event of a plug blowing out, they cant try to pass the buck onto whomever installed the plugs..

i just recently replaced my plugs and wires with No problem i agree the first time it was kinda hard but i didnt have the correct tools i would say if you had a couple hours you should have no problem i went to my local auto parts and purchased AUTOLITE PLATINUM PROS AND AUTOLITE CUSTOM FIT WIRES plug #app764 the new triton engines have platinum plugs factory and should be replaced with the same. i tried using motorcraft until my dealer said they ran about 11 dollars a piece. ONE THING I DID DO was let the truck warm a little so the plugs wouldnt be so hard to take out and lots of anti seige upon reinstall. you definately need some extesions and at least one with a locking pin so the spark plug socket doesnt fall back into that deep deep hole where it comes from.

hope this helps

He said he has a 4.6 - not the 5.4. To the best of my knowledge, all 4.6's have plug wires.

Trick question about the plug wires on the 5.4 coil resistance is very critical all 8 should be almost identical
