No Wires

Doesn't the 5.4 and the newer 4.6's have the coil packs on the plug itself? I don't think there are any wires.

I don't know, I am not the most mechanical person in the world. I never even looked either, I just assumed they had wires. If they have coil packs where is a good place to get some upgraded ones and how hard would installing them be?? I would like to upgrade the ignition system for a little more HP.

Josho,

Call Mike Troyer in the Computer Chip Forum. He'll be able to help you. I was talking to him about something they have called a "Plasma Ignition Booster" It's designed for only the COP (coil on Plug) ignition systems. Supposed to be the stuff.

Ah if it was me I wouldn't waste the money on wires. It's a 2000 the wires should be fine. I have 81000 miles on original plugs and wires. I really doubt that you could feel any kind of performance gain, most of the time these mods such as this are a complete waste of money.

Probably 10-20% of 97-98 owners with the twin coil packs and wires have some sort of problem with plug wires. The factory plug wires are total crap. I had some replaced at 30k kms or 20k miles due to misfire. A set of MSD superconductor wires fixed that problem right up and they weren't expensive.

With the newer coil on plug systems I wouldn't touch it till you get a problem. When you do look for replacement coils from someone else, not Ford. In a brief search it appears there are no aftermarket parts to replace OEM coil on plug stuff.
