Question any relation

The hardest part with a V6 is fiding parts. Ford used to use one block for a couple different engines 289/302/351 i think were the three. The thing that made them different was the head they used. Ford has three different V6's 3.3 4.0 and 4.2L now and I wondered if maybe some of the parts could be interchangable?

Don't know...But the 289 started life as a 221, then a 260.

The only engine that is in the same "family" as the 4.2l is the 3.8l, there has been talk of the supercharger that was fitted onto the Thunderbird SC working on the 4.2l, but that has yet to be seen.

Cool

there are many simalarities between the 3.8l and the 4.2l.

i know of people who have interchanged many parts for the two engines.

sorry, i don't have more info...just letting you know that the two DO have a lot in common.

as I understand it, the 4.2L is basically a bored and stroked 3.8L. many of the parts are interchangable.
