Camshaft Position Sensor--how much to replace?

CEL light on, code says above. Don't really have the time to do it myself (little apprehensive as well), so how much should I expect to pay for replacement? Ford quoted me something like $200...any ideas?

other than a slight rough idle, nothing. Light has been on for 10K, truck has 90,000 miles on it now. Bought it new in Feb '98. No other problems except for new rotors at 55k. Just want to get the CEL off...

The most common problem we see on those are, the magnet in the sensor would come dislodged and damage the synchronizer.
Then you would have to replace both items.

Sensor

Had a Camshaft Position Sensor go out on my 97 Powerstrike. Simptoms included dieing engine at lights on the freeway etcc. Sometimes it would die and start back up. Sometimes the truck would surge as if the engine was trying to die kind og like running out of gas. The sensor was $179.00 very common to go out on powerstrokes. Had to change it myself they wanted like $500

Would a camshaft position sensor make noise if the magnet came dislodged? Or would it be the syncro making the noise?
