Hey Talley
Nico- that is a good question.
People with 5.4L engines usually have them in upgraded trim level trucks (XLT/LARIAT/KING RANCH/etc.) and the manufacturers probably feel that these discriminating folks want nothing but the best for their pride and joy. So they jet-hot them or chrome plate the tubes or something and then call it the special '5.4L intake system' and tack on an additional 30% price tag. AND PEOPLE PAY IT ALL DAY LONG, EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. So as long as there are people who will pay the higher prices for the same or nearly the same equipment, then I'm sure that there will be a vendor who has just what they are looking for. I believe there is a Latin phrase that says Caviat Emptor, or 'let the buyer beware'.
That is why I enjoy doing what I do and reading about other folks on this board who through trial, innovation, & investigation, gather useful modification information and share it with those who may be considering a similar mod. I don't want to have the best truck, I just want everyone to enjoy theirs as much as I enjoy mine. I also don't want people to get ripped off. So value and performance are essential. I encourage you to read ALOT, and talk to as many technical/professional caliber people as you can before doing any mods. Then share what you've learned or experienced (good and/or bad) with us here. That way we are all that much more informed as consumers, owners, and enthusiasts.

Thanks Man...
I was just wondering because about a month ago i was in the market for one, and all the vendors say, they only carry them for 4.6 or 5.4, so it took me awhile too find a decent one without paying an arm and a leg.... I decided to go with AIRAID, I have heard that there cheap and all plastic... To tell you the truth i think i got my money's worth.. Sounds great, looks great, performs great, and has a nice metal powder coated tube... But i guess it comes down to what each persons wants... Its working for me so im happy... Wish i knew that there all the same a month ago... but i guess you learn" trial and error", know what i mean...
Were talking about Air Intakes if anyone was wondering......
Thanks again -J-

Cool.
I used to work a few buildings down from the Airaid factory, and know them pretty well from various car club functions. Those guys actually stumbled onto the whole intake system thing by accident. They were doing a custom truck for EverGreen Performance and wanted a different look for the air intake tube. One of them had a Jet-Hot coated piece of 3" exhaust tubing and the other had a conical K&N. They've been pumping out those suckers like mad ever since. They're good guys, and they really care about their customers. Next time I see them I'll tell them about this posting. They'll probably just smile real big. Those two don't talk too much. They'll get a kick out of someone coming out and saying they like their product. Despite all the money they make. . .they're still just as humble as the rest of us.
