Hey all-

8 months ago, the dealership replaced my catalytic converters because I was hearing what I thought was an exhaust leak (ticking noise) - they said that the catalyic converter was leaking. Well lately the exact same sound has come back from the same area of the truck. I took it to the exhaust shop just to have a tech listen to it, it went up on the lift and he said it sounds like the catalytic converters are "empty"? He said he wasn't picking up a leak but suspects that the engine is dumping too much fuel, which is causes the cat to disintegrate, and that the ticking is due to an echo in the now empty cat.

In eight months (6000 miles roughly) is this possible? Or do I need a second opinion??
