I just figured out what gears I have...3.08 that sucks..and I have 265/75/r16 tires....My ratio sucks a$$...I guess I am going to save the money and get some new ones...What do yall recomend?
3.73's or 3.90's. I recommend staying away from 4.10's they would be a tad much unless you decide to go 33's.
3.73's for sure or 3.90's for a better improvement however less highway milage.

Thanks Tally.....I will have to look into getting some......One other question will the tires spin easier?...If so I hope I will like the new gears...My tires spin to easy as it is now...
umm... yes you can spin them alot easier. That setup you will have 31" tires on 3.73's. I have 3.55's on 30" tires. You will end up being equal where I am now.
I do not see how you can spin em easy on 3.08's.........
......OH YEAH!!! You got a 5spd

Hehehe. I gotta jump on this one:
I love the way the 5-speed trucks look when they blaze their tires off the line. . .and someday I'll have to see it from behind a 5-speed truck for a change.

I usually hook and bail off the line so much harder that I rarely see the back of one. Oh, and let's not forget about the M5OD shifter. It ain't exactly world renowned for it's sporty feel and short throw. So while you 5-speeds are over there rowing gears and doing the heel-and-toe jitterbug, the autos are running away.
But you are correct, though. They sure can spin 1st when you dump the clutch at 4500 rpm. But once you get tired of doing burnouts and want to start running consistant E.T.'s and winning races. . .get an automatic. They handle more power, are more durable (when cared for properly), and you can have your arm around your girl while you drive.

WrongdayJ.....I guess you have been racing people with 5spds that dont know how to launch them....I walk on autos all day long. I am going to go with the limited slip in the rear but which one should I go with...

I agree with kutter, most don't know how to handle the 5spd in these trucks... I walk away instantly on evey auto i've encountered, even all the v8's. granted most modded 5.4's will catch up to me real quick after 60' but I usually take all off the line.
Hell, when I sprayed a 75 against my buddies 97 lt1 firbird auto, i took him by a truck length for the 60'. My best 60' was a 2.261 and that was on my 15.83 run WITH one tire spinning!!!
That's a pretty tough 60 to beat for any stock to mildly modded auto V8!
Auburns are NON-rebuildable... get a Eaton or Powertrax! or stick with the Ford Motorsports unit for $250.
Gears will run you ~$150 - $190 depending on where you buy them from.
(watch out mike, steve might ban you again)

Actually. . .you guys are right.
I think there are only 5 people here in AZ that know how to launch a 5-speed (and I'm one of them).
People drive crappy here, and as a result it's fairly easy to win races against vehicles you think might toast you. Maybe it's the heat? Also- our roads are about as good as pouring tar and sand over a washboarded country back road. That also explains the traction issues. My truck lights them pretty easily here, but in a place with better roads. . .it probably would be harder.
Later guys- thanks for the chuckles!
