gettin out of the nitrous
gettin out of the nitrous
hey guys, Im getting off the bottle, haha. well any way ive got a complete nx wet system for sale in the classifieds. plus a gauge pod and auto meter nitrous gauge with braided line. if any of you are interested or need to know what it takes to run it on your truck shoot me a email. I run this kit on my 2001 4.2 v6. a 75 shoot does real good. or a hundred is about as far i would go on a stock motor, I ran a hundred before i took it off. pretty strong hit.

If you have any ?? Ill check when i get in from work tonight.

Im getting rid of alot of stuff that I used when the truck was lowered. Im in the middle of lifting it to a total of 10 inches and will be running 35 1250's i'll post a pic when its done. the nitrous kit is probily sold. the guy is supposed to send the money today. and so is the gage pod with gages and the lowering kit. the checks are supposed to be in the mail. The only thing left is the lakewood traction bars.

Did you swap g/f's???
To me it seems like it... make the truck to fit the girl, one minute lowered and fast, now you must have a country girl and she want's it sky high

Got a couple of questions about NOS is you guys dont mind...1st- I have a 99 F-150 v-6 4.2 auto.... Completly Stock other than an Air Intake... would you guys recomend NOS for some extra pony's or should I do a couple of upgrades before i take that step ? Second how hard is it to install ? Third, would you recomend buying a used system?? If any one can answer, it would be great. Thanks

1. While the block and crank are strong enough to handle it, your pistons are hypereutectic (a light but brittle type of alloy) and will likely bow out (literally) before too long. They don't handle temperature shock well, and aren't as strong as cast or forged pistons.
2. The intakes on our trucks are staged meaning there are two sets of intake runners of different lengths that are used at different operating conditions. Nitrous + fuel + ignition source = boom. There are lots of little hiding places that are exposed to the intake valves on these intakes and one small backfire, or really any malfunction and kiss your intake, hood, and more than likely your windshield goodbye. I've seen it happen, and would not want this type of thing to happen to you.
If you HAVE to use nitrous, then get forged pistons, and run a direct port injection system. . .not a plate or single fogger nozzle system (wet, or dry). The power gains are massive, and the risk is lower - way lower -of backfire explosions.
Are port injection systems easy to install? No. You must remove your intake, drill and tap the nozzles into the ports, and run hard tubing from the nozzles into distribution blocks. These kits are more expensive and more difficult to install, but worth every hour and penny.
As far as buying a used system, I would buy one. . .because I know exactly what the various kits should have in them and what to look for in abused equipment. If you are not as familiar with the various kits, then I would stay clear of used kits simply because you don't know what you're missing, and you don't know if the stuff you are getting was abused and broken or not.
Later,
Im sure mr wrongs got a point, but as long as you stay under a 100 shot and use the right spark plugs with high octane gas you wont have any trouble. Any thing can happen like driving down the road and a piano falls from a space ship and hits the ground in front of you causing a piece of ivory to be hurled into brand new air filter and beeing sucked thru the intake and blowing a hole in the top of a piston causing a chain reaction sending fuel that cant be burned into the intake in all those hiddin pockets causing a bigger explosion which takes your hood off causing your windshield to explode.
