Which gears for me ?
Rubin,
Don't be tenative about the computer and the gears. If you have a dealer install the gears, they can reflash your computer to any gear ratio you have them install. Personally, I would prefer to have the ECU reflashed for the new gears and then get a chip later for the gears down the line. That way if the truck has to go in for service, and you pop out the chip, you aren't screwed.
For us automatic owners, there are two MAJOR mods that should be considered manditory if better acceleration/performance is your goal. #1 is a chip that helps with the shift timing, eliminates the ignition timing cuts, and improves the shift firmness. This goes a long way toward improving the driveability. #2 is a higher numerical rear axle gear ratio. These two things alone will make a night-and-day difference in the way your truck feels and performs. If it's at all possible, you want to do these two mods together. That way you really feel the difference and can instantly know that you got your money's worth and then some.

Thanks for the 411 J. I think this the way to go. Hard to convince the "boss" lady to pay the extra $s at the pump for premium but I'm using the ol' "it'll-get-better-milage-with-the-chip-so-it's-a-wash" excuse. Wish me luck
