Anyone ever by car parts from EBay? I saw a new Eaton Posi unit I want for a very good price.....I just get nervous when I think about buying car parts from eBay.

The eaton units are very durable... I'd say alot better than factory limited slip. with these v6's anything you go with would pretty much be bullit proof. The eatons have a torque rating somewhere around 400lbs of torque which i'd say 99.99999990 users will never see that much with the 4.2's.

As long as the guy on ebay says it's brand new, never been opened... i'd say go for it. check out his referral numbers next to his name and look for anything bad.

I wouldn't buy anything like this used at all.

cool...thanks for the advice....I think I'm gonna get it.....You can "buy it now" for $305. That's $50 cheaper than anyhwere else I've seen...plus there were several to bid on....if anyone's interested....

I'm pretty sure that all trucks come with 31 spline axle shafts.

Only cars had the 28 spline. . .BUT. . .there are exceptions to everything- find out from the dealer before you lay down the green.

I grenaded the eaton posi I put in my Bronco a few years back. the truck was running a mild 302 and 3.55 gears at the time. It came out in 4 pieces. It seemed to work well while it was in there, it was not noticable, but would pull on dirt roads. I did find that in a zero traction situation for 1 wheel (on ice) it wouldn't pull at all, it just let the tire on solid ground sit there.

Isn't that the whole purpose of the limited slip...to give power to the wheel that's not slipping?

It would let the tire with traction sit, while the zero traction spun. Most LS units take a rotation or so on the zero traction tire to fully engage and transfer power to the tire with traction. My eaton unit (and I tested this with 1 tire on ice and the other on dry cement...for 2 minutes) would never engage the other tire until I hit the brakes, which would effectively do the torque shifting manually.

Another piece of info, at 24K miles, the clutches are completely dead in my buddy's factory LS. He's driven it reasonably hard, but now it doesn't pull at all. It worked great at first. He's hoping that Ford will warranty it, but I doubt it.
