Assembled 4.2 Shortblock $550
Complete 4.2L shortblock pre-assembled will run you $1,100 from the dealership.
www.supersixmotorsports.com has them for $550 + shipping.
Not a bad price if some of you higher milage 97-98 4.2L want a new shortblock. You could have a machine shop do the swap for around $500 - $800. You will need all new gaskets ~$300 and you will need to have your existing heads milled ~$75. So a new shortblock with all new gaskets INSTALLED can be had for ~ $1,700.
Not bad if you ask me and it's alot cheaper than all of you guys who result to dealerships charger 4,000 for the same thing.
IF you can do this yourself your looking at a new replacement right around 1,000 bucks!.
