next mod?

Hey everyone? I took my truck up to the drag strip friday to see what i can run and i got a 17 sec at 80 mph hot. Right now i have a cold air intake , exhaust and chip. I was wondering what would be the next fairly cheap mod i can get to better my time? Any suggestions would help.

yes... electric fan will give you ~ 3-5rwhp and the crank pulley gave me 7.6 rwhp so you can gain at least 10-12rwhp for those mods listed which is good for just at .2 just do to the nature these mods do.

Man a 17sec 1/4 mile with mods. Sorry I got to say our trucks are SLOW!!! Except of course for yours Talley, he's done about 5 times the amount of mods most of us have.

Question

Would you consider having your chip reburnt for a set of steeper rear axle gears? $200 for gears and the small fee (if any) to have the chip reflashed is relatively cheap and could get you up to a 1/2 second quicker in the 1/4 mile. Most tuners don't charge for a gear change reflash. . .some do. Depends on how tight you are with your tuner.

Food for thought. . .

I've thought about it, but seeing how I'm tight on $$ I doubt I'll do it. Plus I think I'm about done with the mods, going to start saving up for a new truck soon. So I guess my truck will stay as is unless I find some cheap mods that will actually do something for it.

stock my old 00 automatic 4.2 turned a 17.8. after chip, airaid, and glasspack... i ran a best of 17.221.

now my new 02 4.2 5-speed stock i ran a best of 16.686 and with my mods i've bested a 15.83.

you can see how much the auto sucks stock vs. stock. 1.2 second difference.

i'm sure with a good shift kit, and a good aftermarket torque converter you could pick up .5 on the tranny. but the auto's still suck 65hp before you put power to the wheels while the manuals only suck 35hp. you'd need 30BHP more just to match the 5 speeds RWHP basically a chip/exhaust/intake. you see... Rob01F150 just ran a 17.0 with those 3 mods... you put a good torque converter and you'll run with a stock 5-speed.

but the auto option costs 1,000 bucks when you buy your vehicle and the chip, exhaust, intake, torque converter will run you another 1,400 bucks... 2,400 just to match a stock 5-speed. you can see why I traded!
