Remember- if you replace anything, reset the computer so that it relearns your replaced part as 'normal'. Even something like a muffler requires a computer reset. This is why in the Chilton's manual usually the 1st or 2nd step in any computer controlled part removal/replacement procedure is "remove negative terminal from battery".
Later,
Check Engine Light
I have a 1997 V-6 with about 70,000 miles and the engine warning light stays on most of the time. The computer shows code PO 117 Engine Coolant Tempature Circuit Low Imput.
I've had a new Coolant Temperature Sensor put in three times in 6 months including once at the dealer. Light usually comes back on after driving about 200 miles after replacement. My local mechanic says to ignore light because the sensor is OK.
I've also had the thermostat replaced just in case. My temperature nearly always shows the engine on the cool side...even in 90 degree weather.
Anybody got any suggestions?
