Here's some food for thought. . .

Talley posted a time of 15.8.
(without nitrous)

My stock '85 Mustang GT 5.0L H.O. 5 speed- 15.9

On the street or at the track, Talley would have jumped all over that GT. Now true, that was an older V8, and Talley has modded his truck. . .and the margin of victory would have been slim indeed. But Talley isn't on here claiming to have crushed V8 cars by several truck-lengths.

The fact remains that it is highly possible for these trucks to suprise many a V8 owner- even in sports cars - if the mods are chosen wisely.

I test drove a V6 truck about 3 months before I bought my truck it was a 99 with 5 speed it seemed weak I then test drove a extended cab with a V8 and auto it was much quicker and was a biger truck both were XLTs and 4x2 trucks and the V8 truck was a 4.6 so I'm going by my seat of the pants feel when I test drove a reg cab V6 then a extended cab V8 both stock and the V8 felt much stronger than the V6 I have to admit I'm a V8 kind of guy and don't give the V6 respect but i can see a V6 with lots of Mods can beat or be a very close race against a stock V8 or lightly Moded V8.

hmustang-

Do you remember what rear axle gears each of the trucks had?

Chances are that the V6 didn't have the upgraded 3.55 axle gears, and the V8 did. Powerwise the 4.6L only makes (if I can remember correctly) something like 20hp and 25 lb/ft of torque more than the V6.

Mine is about to get a set of 4.10's.

I don't remember the gearing for both trucks but I think the V6 had the 235/75 16 tire while the V8 did have the upgraded 255/70 tires.

sorry If I don't please your interest. I'm tired of this thread already... bark if you want, it doesn't hurt me.

You are calling me a liar, this of which I am not doing... I am mearly posting what happened.

like I said in one of my responses above... come to find out from a friend of the driver of the z28... he was drunk and was racing like ****. I've raced my friends 96 firebird v8 which if i'm not mistaken is the same lt1. the two times i raced him i was 2 lengths behind and he runs consistent 14.4-14.5's. I sprayed a 75shot.

Black F150 Offroad- I am in total disbelief that you would post a comment like this. Anything you do to your vehicle that either increases it's efficiency- or rather, decreases inefficiency, would be considered a valid and worthwhile mod. I hope you understand that while the the nitrous is the single largest horsepower adding mod that Talleywhacker has listed by itself it by no means pales the effectiveness or necessity of the other mods. A lighter vehicle benefits more from a given power increase than a heavier one simply by nature of physics.
-------------------ALSO----------------
Flaming someone and basically calling the man a lair shows:
1. That you didn't really read and understand the thread.
2. That you don't understand hp/weight ratio concepts.
3. That you lack class.

I think we're all kinda supposed to help each other here. . .right?
If you disagree, that's totally cool. But c'mon. Do us all a favor and try to curb the urge to be a complete d_ckhead about it.

Later,

not beliveing that a 4.2 pickup can beat a comaro when a lighter mustang with a 4.6 can't, gee what is wrong with me, or the post about 4.2's running with lightnings, I guess you should post on the lighning board as they should trade all their trucks in on 4.2's

just an opinion, if u said the guy was drunk to begin then that would be a differnet story, but personaly I wouldn't even want to drive near someone who was drunk yet alone race.

PS = some one previously stated that the person in the camaro didn't know how to drive, which most would consider that being drunk is not knowing how to drive.

enough already... i'm tired of bickering.

The nitrous is off my truck right now... it's going into the dealership to have the rear pinion seal fixed.... it's leaking.
