synthetic
When I bought my truck new in 98' I changed over to synthetic at the next oil change, at 3000 miles. I've now got 83,800 miles on the truck and have used synthetic from that day on. From my experiences it works beautifully with the truck. By the way I use Mobil 1 synthetic.
6,000 miles (2nd oil change).
Now its Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 every 2,500 miles with a mobil 1 oil filter (model M1-209). and I rotate my tires every oil change and have them balanced every 10k miles. new motorcraft fuel filter every 10k miles. new trans oil every 15k miles. stp complete fuel system cleaner every 4k miles.

Switched to Mobil 1 at 500 mi. and change every 3K. No problems. Get yourself a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve- it makes it so much easier.

i switched over at 4000. i did my first change at 1000 to 5w30 dino oil, and then changed to mobil 1 5w30 @ 4000. been running mobil one since then (now have 19k), no problems.
when i hit 36,000, i'm probably going to go to 15w50 mobil 1; dont want to do it yet to upset the warranty.

I put in Mobil 1 at 3000 miles and I change every 6000 miles. I have 9000 on truck now and just changed this week. Since Mobil One comes from the factory in new Corvettes I dont see how it would affect the break in period. Since Ford reccomends a change every 5000 miles under normal usage, I cant see where I am hurting anything going 6000 since the Mobil One is better than regular oil. I'm sure there will be those sho disagree with me on this, but if you feel better changing every 3000 with synthetic, than by all means do so.
