How many miles does it have on it. Have you thought about maybe a mild tune-up like plugs and a fuel filter.

haha yeah this truck sucks on gas!!
I get 13-14 mpg after all these mods and sometimes wonder if I'd be getting better mileage with the 5.4!

it's probably the dual exhaust, ESPECIALLY if you don't have an X or H pipe connecting them. Guy's with the blown 5.4's don't even need dual exhaust

negative..

these trucks just plain suck on gas when you mod them.. I don't have duals (altho I really want them) and my mileage is 270 miles per 20 gallons.. that sucks!!!
when I first got th truck I was a steady 15.9 mpg.. then after the mods, forget it, gas mileage went down the drain

RedFlarside2000, just a tip if you would like to get better gas mileage..

don't drive over 2500 rpms' .. you'll reduce the guzzlin alot!

just put the hazards on when merging onto the highway

17.7 MPG. That's what I'm getting. I keep the oil changed every 2-3K, use only 93 octane, and I do a complete tune-up diag. every other oil change. I use regular ole, non-platinum motorcraft plugs. My crusing RPM on the hiway is 3000 RPM which is roughly 78 MPH. My truck likes me, and my wallet....

Is it possible the 3.55 gears has something to do with it???
My window sticker says 13-19 in the city and 17-23 on the hiway.
Don't know just my .02

Yu are not the only one. It seems that every time a guy puts chip in his truck, his mileage goes down. It turns out that with any mod and increase in power, the foot does seem to push a little harder than before. In theory, the mods should increase mileage, if you drive exactly the same. I have found that with these trucks any type of leadfoot behaviour just pours gas through the engine.

The JBA Headers really killed my mpg but superchip definitly has something to do with it too..
A while back people were getting pissed about the banner ad you see above for superchip which used to claim "increased mpg".

notice it's not there anymore!
