V6 compressor
V6 compressor
I put a sanden a/c compressor on the motor and converted it to compress air. It has a oiler on the intake to lube the unit and a filter can to clean before that. On the discharge side it has a filter to remove oil and water, also a pressure switch set up to kick in the compressor at 120PSI and off at 150PSI. I had to remove the power steering resevoir and relocate it along with the lines. The compressor hooks up to a bracket that has an idler and the bracket itself bolts up to the factory a/c unit and the bolt holes for the power steering resevoir. The compressor is faster than a 5hp shop compressor and I will use it to fill tires, run air tools, honk a 3 foot air horn from a semi. I have not yet mounted a air tank arround 5-10 gallons.

what is this compressor for,?
Ive never heard of using a compressor on an engine, what are you using this for, I hope this is not to dumb of a question?!?
If it is for air intake, what kind of gains are we looking at here??

I have been wanting a compressor on my truck but don't want to sacrifice a/c. That is a pretty ingenious desighn though.
Compressors are great. If you do much wheelin, you just inflate if you air down your tires. If you go to the lake or something you can fill up air toys and floatys, camping u can air up matresses, tools, etc....

Just curious how I got two questions about what I was going to use it for when I listed them in the first paragraph in my post, I assume that some of us only grew up with picture books but I don't read the instructions manuel until I have a problem, so you get a break. You are the ones that I post pictures for cause words are boring, enough said.

I made it, it's not a kit
got the a/c compressor from the junk yard ($25)and built the rest and hooked it up I don't know if any one makes it for the 4.2 or not and I wouldn't want it. Most use longer serpentine belts on the system which ties into all the other accesories. If the bracket or compressor breaks your system is down. I am running another pulley and another v-belt and If something happens then I pull the belt and the motor keeps running fine. Plus i know how to fix it if it breaks which I doubt will happen.
