Thumbs up UPDATE

Lee at ASP measured my water pump pulley and will sell a Water Pump pulley also. The Crank kit will include a longer 50 thread bolt than the stock 44 thread. we had some problems installing it there. Couldn't dyno due to construction blocking the shops doors. and the other dyno shop guy was on vacation. errr! I'm going back in 3 weeks to get the water pump pulley put on... he drew it up and is getting it fabricated. You will need a 102 1/8 belt to replace the stock 103 1/2 belt. RTV silicone, and bearing grease. along with pulley puller.

PERFORMANCE:

Low end feels the same with it revving alot quicker in the 3700+rpm range. 2nd gear pulls better... 3rd pulls HARD! and 4th just feels like a different gear. 5th feels a little better. I really notice the major improvement in the 3rd gear 70-90mph WOT. My truck accelerates better between 80 and 100 and I don't start to notice a dramatic slowdown untill ~112 compared to 105 before. Charging is not effected at all. Lee stated that your engine temp will go up 5 degrees at idle in the middle of summer. For a Retail of $172.50 I cannot say this is the biggest bang for your buck (I paid $60 Installed! w/ belt), but it does improve a good amount. I ran at the track last friday a 15.901 @ 85.80mph with stock fan on. I am going again this Friday and will post the diffence in 1/4 times. Lee says about .15 - .2 drop. This mod feels better than the Ported Throttle body... in fact, ALOT better. 8rwhp is what it gave the 3.8 v6 and should be along the same amount for us 4.2's. Sorta feels like the muffler and fan mod at once. For me this was the best $ Per HP. After I run at the track friday I will install the electric fan and see if there are any charging problems.

I recommend this pulley to all 4.2's

Any Questions?

about 3 weeks This pulley makes the truck pull HARD in 3rd. OMG I love gettin on the gas in my truck.

goto www.aspracing.com for 97-98 4.2 pulley. It's only $80 for those years, the 99-02 will be $179.95 (I paid $60)

You said before that they were also gonna make a water pump pulley. Will that be included with the crank pulley for 179.99 or will we have to buy it separate.

well, the prototype water pump pulley is being fabricated right now and will not be completed for another 3 weeks, but thats if it's made of aluminum, if Lee of ASP decides to go with steel, then it will be done in one more week. The 179.95 will be for the Crank Pulley ONLY!. Once the water pump pulley is made, he will make a 2-Piece set and price will be ~$219.95 or you can buy the Water Pump pulley seperate for ~$40. This is just a rough price estimate that we had discussed in a small discussion. I did point out that there was a demand on a 2-Piece set and so he went ahead and had the plans drew up from the measurement he took off my water pump pulley. Again, the only drawback is that with the 2-Piece set your engine temps will rise an average 10 degrees MORE WITH ELECTRIC FAN (maybe 15 total). 5 degrees with just the Crank Pulley.

Power outputs for 5-Speed:

Crank Pulley - 8RWHP 5 degrees hotter
Water Pump - 2RWHP 5 degrees hotter

Total - 10RWHP 10 degrees hotter engine temps.

couldn't tell you cuz i didn't do it. The owner of ASP installed it for free, since it was a prototype... he needed to do it himself so he can write up the install directions. It's basic, even tho we ran into some problems(but hey, its a prototype). crank pulley puller, pull crank pulley off... put new one on and tighten up
