Super chargert on 4.2 in Hot Rod MAG!! (2/02)
Was scanning through the pages of Hot-Rod Magazine and Im looking at this mustang. Im about to flip over the page and then i see "4.2" badges on his hood. I read the article. He tok a 97 F-150 4.2 and put uit into his mustang, swapped over the intakes and all that and mounted a chargfer onto it. He is pulling 290H.P. at the wheels. And it tells you what he used everywhere on the engine. I am goingg to send him a letter to find out if anything bogged him down, but its definitly easier and a lot cheaper than autoperformance.net or whatever it is that has the $4000 charger kit. definitly gonna happen to the truck soon

i know he had 99 3.8 intakes on it
he had a 4.6 throttle body on it. IM doing this off of my head so i dont remember everything. it was running at 11 pounds of boost. ill post what he did to it tommorow when i have it in front

pimpin: the supercharger kit is alot cheaper than 4,000
. But so you know with our kit you can swap out the pulley and push 11lb over night with no harm to the engine, I've been running 11lb on my truck with the kit for a year now without a single fault.
HP: 298.5 at the crank. no other mods.

well ipicked up the mag and read the article, but not very concentrated on it while i read something about a 6 year old jumping around next to me. well from what i got out of it he had done alot of things to the engine to make it work.

XANMAN has a powerdyne @ 12psi on his 4.2 F-150. He has been to superchips main building and had his truck on their in house dyno so they could tune his truck. he bested a max power of 333rwhp. this is with no intercooler. he runs a mid 14. but he is also 4x4. He spent a total of $2500 for the charger setup. he also has ignition, headers, chip, intake, and exhaust.
12psi is fine for our motors, the 4.2 can handle just as much boost as a 5.4 or 4.6 can.At higher boost levels than that, you should have internal engine work done.Xanman has had no problems with his setup besides a really heavy right foot.I know he has since purchased and installed an intercooler.I don't think he has been back to the dyno and unfortunately he is a very busy person, running his construction company, so he really doesn't post here that often.
I'm a bit confused. Most everyone here has an expensive F150, unlike myself. My question is, why not go with the Triton V8 for performance? I got the V6 becuase I was looking for price. I'm just wondering if there is some advantage with the V6. The Mustang thing was pretty cool.

how much is it now?? I mean for that price i would rather turbo the truck....thats just my opinion..
If you look at the picture of the engine he has it stuffed in there.
with our f-150, we have much more space to play around. Put and electric fan in there and you got even more room. and IT s has the specs on what he did to the engine.. and the internals are ALL STOCK!! So Really your talking about $1700 tops to pull it off.
