V-6 stalls w/o warning,p/s freezes steering causing loss of control until restarted.

This has occurred from time to time since less than 1yr old.Dealer not listening.Have replaced wires and plugs but problem not solved. And when it does stall the power steering freezes in whatever position at the time.Heading into a turn could be disastrous.Ford on/line says tell it to the ntsb. Does this stall sound like a computer failure. It can happen w/o warning even after running 30 or more minutes usually on decelleration.Dis/re-connecting the battery doesn't solve it either

Stalls

I can not tell you for sure that this is your problem but I do know that the '97 body style has this problem, and trust me it can be a real problem.
Ford when they designed the engine compartment layout for the 4.2L engine did not take into consideration that by placing the A/C condensor directly above the exhaust system and O2 sensor that the heat coming from the exhaust would result in heavy condensation forming on the condensor, which in turns drips down <ONTO> the O2 sensor. What this results is the utter havoc, stalls, rough idling, etc.
The only way I can see to actually fix the problem would be to insulate the condensor or shield the O2 sensor. Either way Ford has not to my knowledge, decided to fix it yet.

if no drive concern's. like missing or loading up or low idle most of these should set a code. try swapping the fuel pump relay with one of the of the other's. not pcm relay. just a thought. but then if your head light's start to go out when driveing. rememmber the relay. hehe.

Since less than a year old Ive had this problem and repeatedly mentioned it to my dealer who shrugged their shoulders every time but it would usually happen the first ten minutes after cold start. But over this winter it happened several times after geting all the way to work (up to a 1 hr drive). My Ford dealer has taught me not to trust them and Ford more or less blew me off too.Iguess I have to stall, lose control and run over a a Hundai full of babies to get their attention.

Have you attempted to take the truck to another dealer's service center. From my experiences, sometimes you have to look around to find a reputable shop. Just a suggestion.
