I dunno... I drove the new Nissan Altima 3.5SE today...

It's gonna be a tough call everybody. I drove the manual and the automatic and boy does that thing haul @$$! 240hp, and I'd have to learn how to drive all over again. With the auto, I floored it and I could feel the fronts swerving left and right. If I do decide to get a car, that'd definately be it.
Cause here's the deal. I leave for boot camp in march. Question is to sell my truck and get the car or keep the truck and keep up with the mods. Both would be the same monthly payment. Future mods, in this order:
Next week, superchip
After boot camp-
focal 165v3 comp. set.
supercharger
18" rims/tires
1" drop
one fat anti-Sway bar

I know I'm really going to like my truck when it's finished but that car was so damn nice!
any help?

I have gone from a car to a truck once and regretted it very much. I'll never do that again. But it is your decision. Just don't go rice on us, please!

Frank, what did you regret about going from a car to a truck? Or did you mean the other way around?

keep the truck

My fist vehicle was an 88 F150 that my dad bought new and gave to me when I started driving. I drove it for 3 years and since it had 225,000 miles on it, I decided to get a car(DUMB). I got a ford focus. Hated it. 6 months later I traded it in and got my new 01 F150. Couldn't be happier.

I can't decide, I need help!

Ok, this is kinda wierd but anyway.
What I'd like is for a whole bunch of you, wherever you are, to go out and take it for a test drive. Seriously, because the car is so damn new, I can't find any real feedback on it other than the catalog and their website.
I'll admit, being young, I don't have a whole lot of vehicle experience. Other than the vehicles in my family, I have never driven anything with that kind of feel to it ('97 Lincoln towncar, '99 Chevy 2500 Suburban, '01 honda civic), that is, with the sporty, seat of pants driving feel. It's a big favor to ask, but go out, have some fun for my sake before I sell my beautiful baby!

I really like those new altimas. I think with the 3.5 and the manual Motortrend was getting 14.4 sec. quarter miles with that car, very impressive. They said its nicer, better, and cheaper than the maxima too but i think the maxima is a little faster.

The real question is where are you going AFTER boot camp?

What service are you joining? Do you know where you will be stationed first?

My advice, keep the truck for now. After you get to your first duty station then decide what you want to do. It would be a pain in the tail to get a new car then get shipped overseas or to a job that deploys all the time.

try www.se-r-list.org. This is a nissan based web site, they talk about se-r's mainly, but I have heard there were discussions on the new altima.

I've joined the Navy but it's ok. I'm going in as a Nuclear Engineer so I already know my frist two years after boot are in tech school, stationed in South Carolina.
If I do go with the car, I'm gonna have a hard time finding mod's, it's a new engine.

I drove the new Altima 3.55E yesterday. I am 66 years young and I still love the power . It is a fantastic car. Plan on getting one in January.
