Thumbs up Show Me Your Air Box Mods

Well I did my air box mod today, and im glad I did

I have seen a few different types of mods here at the forums and im not sure if anyone has done it like this? I will be posting a few pics of my mod so that if you want to do this you can get a idea of how to do it. And if you have done this mod please post your pics here so that everyone can see the different types of air box mods, and choose what will work for them.

How mine differs from the ones I have seen is that I cut the right part of the air box housing ring and utilized the mounting pegs as you will see in the pics I have posted. Please bear with me as I can only post one pic at a time.

Here in this pic you can see the right side of the air box & where I have cut the ring & mounting pegs off. I will use the ring & mounting pegs only for the new mod. The part in the pic will not be used.
NOTE: ring & pegs are not shown in this pic.

Here you can see the the RIGHT ring and 2 mounting pegs that I cut from the RIGHT side of the air box housing ,fully assembled & clamped to the LEFT side ring (air box housing) and air filter.Keeping the ring & pegs from the right side make for a nice fit and clean finish to this mod. Fits like OEM but with better looks & performance

I feel that it did slightly improve my throttle response. and this is by far the best bang for your buck (FREE) mod that I have done to my truck

tubaman...

I just cut a ring out of some sheet metal I had laying around the house. I just used a pair

of snips to cut it. I made the outside diameter a 1/4 inch bigger than the diameter of the

filter. The inside diameter is about 7 inches, I can't remember the exact measurement. I

just made it so it is flush with the rubber on the filter. You can see the ring in the

attachment in one of my earlier posts. Then I just clamped the ring and the filter to the

other side of the air box. Very easy mod.

Good, maybe it will get me more than 15.1 mpg (And that's highway). Did it give you any noticible change in mpg & hp ?

gas gas gas

Well, I haven't used a full tank yet so I'm not sure what the numbers are but I can already tell that I'm getting better mileage. I was averaging 15.1 also but it is all city driving. So far I got about an extra 15-20 miles on a half a tank. I'll let you know when I fill it up.

Cool

I have only had this mod on my truck for a couple of days now, and to this point I feel that it has improved my trucks performance & MPG.

did it

Yeah... I did do the reset. I had recently put fog lights on my truck and I disconnected the battery then but never did the reset, so I did it after doing this mod. rough idle at first but it's very smooth now.
