Does it get better?
Does it get better?
I've filled up my truck twice so far and I'm averaging between 15-16 mpg. I'm not complaining or anything but I was wondering if anyones mpg improved from when they first bought thier truck, without too many mods. I have an 2WD XLT Sport Reg Cab/Long Bed/Auto.
You haven't mentioned which engine you have, but from what I understand the 4.2's and 4.6's have pretty much the same fuel consumption.
Yes, your mileage will get better over the next few thousand miles. There are a number of threads on the message board (you may need to do a search based on your specific engine) addressing this. Depending on driving habits, some members have seen as high as 21-22 mpg, others have seen 13-14. Again, driving habits. If you are getting 16 mpg now, you might expect 18 or so once the truck is broken in.
Keep in mind that any mods you do don't necessarily improve mileage, as there is a corresponding right-foot action with those mods!!!
BTW, congrats on the new truck!

XLT Sport,
My milage stayed about the same from day 1. I tend to drive with a lead foot, and my average city mpg is about 14. I've done some performance mods that gave the truck more power, but didn't hurt the milage any.
Also, I've got an extra rim that will fit your truck if you want it. It's the exact match to the ones that are on there. I bought an extra set off ebay in September, and have 2 left to sell. I wanted a fifth rim for mine so I could rotate the tires, to help the first set last longer. Also if I do get a flat, my truck doesn't look gay for a few days while I'm getting another tire. I'm looking for $88 plus actual shipping. I'm not making any profit, just trying to help out a fellow F-150 owner. E-mail me directly at mitchwoodward@hotmail.com if you're interested, or for a picture. I hope this part of the post doesn't violate the vendor rules...
Thanks,
Mitch
