Outran buddies Chevy!
First kill with the V6, albeit shocking. I have a 2001 sc/sb 4x4 Sport 4.2 5-speed. Basic XL model (looks good though!) Dead nuts stock with 5700 miles.
Opponent:
2000 Chevy 4x4 sc/sb 4.8 5-speed Mods include Flowmaster exhaust and K&N, 285.75.16 tires.
When I had 300 miles on mine, he tried to go around me on a two lane road on our way to work one morning. It took him an eighth of a mile to get around, and it wasnt by much. That was when he had stock tires, but with the K&N and exhaust. I told him I wanted a rematch when I had some miles on mine. Well I got my chance last night. I was following him on the interstate about 75 mph and we hit a long stretch with no traffic. I was behind him. I pulled out to pass and then floored it, so as not to hear him say I got a run on him. By the time I hit the speed limiter in fourth gear I was a fender in front of him! He pulled off and stopped me in disbelief. He said he floored it in fourth as soon as I pulled out and that was all he had. He thinks his tires slowed him down slightly (I agree), but I didnt want to bring it to his attention that his truck has 3.73 gears and mine has 3.55's, so the gearing is close to equal. I quit racing my Mustang on the street because it is stupid, so what do I do? Race my 4 wheel drive. I can only justify it because it was a Chevy.
