Coolant ? Peak okay?

Would appreciate some quick help here. I was gonna go to ford today to get engine coolant for my 3.5 but didn’t make it over there. Is any good coolant like peak, or Prestone okay for my truck? I ended up going to oreillys and got Preston’s 50 50 dex cool.

You can use anything that meets Ford specs (read the bottle), but you cannot use Dexcool. Flush required if changing colors (green, orange, yellow). If you flush you need to use concentrated coolant - not 50/50 - because you will still have a lot of water in the system. Capacity is 13 quarts so you would need 2 gallons concentrate.

Thanks man. It’s 50 50 distilled water and coolant I haven’t opened it yet. Maybe I’ll go to ford in the morning & return the other to the parts store

Don’t trust these stupid kids at parts stores! He sold me the wrong one. I questioned him saying it was for gm vehicles. He said ford is using it now! Really? On the back under ford it calls for prestone all vehicles coolant. Just a pain in the *** listening to ppl who don’t know but I should have looked on the back so I’m just as stupid. I wanted peak but they didn’t have it. & oreillys was closed. Going to ford. My Manuel just called for in the specs n maintenance to use a 50 50 distilled/ coolant . I better re look at the numbers n letters in capacity section

I’m a dummy alright! I thought antifreeze was for my AC. Wrong! It’s for the heater and instead I need a can of frigarant 134 to the bottom part to hook the hose up! Or something like that. Or if the code numbers are a certain spec then I need to get it in the shop. Hopefully I can do this

Unless you are experienced, take it to a shop to get the A/C checked. I know they sell cans of R-134 and charging hoses at the parts stores, but it's risky for an amateur to be messing with. If the A/C isn't blowing cold air, it really needs to be professionally diagnosed. It might just be low on refrigerant, but you need to know why and get it fixed properly. If it's not low on refrigerant and there's another issue, adding refrigerant will overcharge it which is just as bad.
