I need a favor
I need a favor
My '97 4.2L with 71,000 has started to act buggy): Not a single problem till about 2 weeks ago.
I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is and beleive it's a post Cat Oxygen Sensor.
What's driving me buggy though is this electrical buzzing sound coming either from the engine at the Throttle Body or more likely from the Transmission Range Sensor (TR) (It's loudest if I get underneath). I need to know if this buzzing is normal.
I have heard the buzzing for a few weeks now while testing sensors in the engine bay and couldn't figure it out till today. I found that if I open the throttle lever about 3mm the buzzing will stop. I didn't adjust it because I don't want to cause any problems since the idle is controled by the computer. The TPS checked out fine.
The favor I need is for a few other mebers of the board to go out to their truck, put the key in the ON position (without starting it) and open up the hood and listen for this buzz. I need to know if this is normal.
I checked the other family Fords and didn't hear anything but I'm the only one with an F-150.
Thanks

I had the same problem with my truck right after I installed my superchip (but it wasn't the chips fault) and I took it to my ford dealer and it was a servo type divice in the intake manifold. I remember that it was a buzzing sound. The dealer fixed mine no problem. Hope this helps.
