Cylinder #2 plug order on 4.2 V6

Got a P0302 misfire code so I ordered a new motorcraft plug, set of wires and a coil pack. Coil pack is original with 115k so it won't hurt to replace, wires have 60k so it won't hurt to replace those either. Just doing one plug as their all motorcraft and have only 10k.

The #2 plug, is that the one in the middle on the passenger side or the drivers side?

Now, the misfire started after a night of extremely heavy rain for hours. The truck sat outside stationary. So part of me is thinking water got into the coil pack because it would be pretty impossible for water to get into that middle plug well. It's not coolant related either.

Also, it took me 30 mins to log into this annoying site. That stupid setting where it makes you change your password every month is the dumbest thing ever. For sites like these, I like to store my password and forget about it.

It's not an online banking page. So annoying.

Passenger side.

Definitely sounds like the coil pack, that's exactly what happened to me several years ago. It would miss after sitting out in the rain, there turned out to be a small crack in it.

Your wires are probably fine - Motorcraft wires are good for 200k.

Thanks for the quick reply!

The coil pack was my initial thought too. I think I'll replace that first and see how it runs.

I've done the coil pack on a couple other of my Fords (Escape and Explorer). Replacing took care of the missing and wires as mentioned are good for a looong time.
I also concur on the credentials for logging in. By the time I get the password reset it is expired and seems like overkill.

Put the new ignition coil pack in today. Runs great. The original had 4 cracks in it.

Great! Love it when the repairs are simple.

Agreed!

Also, for some reason, my scangauge is now showing I'm getting 2-3 mpg higher on average.

I do the same drive to work daily. It's at 5:30 am and there is no traffic, all traffic lights are flashing yellow.

I'd always averaged about 15-16, 17 max, and now, every single day I'm getting 20 mpg. It's half highway and half about 40 mph single lane roads.

Besides the misfire once, it never felt as though it was missing. Can changing the ignition coil really do that much for mpgs?
