Licking the V8 tears
There is a "1997-2003 F-150" Facebook group and it seems every day there is a post from some guy with a lifted V8 on 33s complaining that he only gets 250 miles to a tank. I revel in the fact I can go 400+ without refueling. When I post a pic of my trip meter at 467 miles with the "Low Fuel" light on, everyone gets mad at me. All those years of having guys with V8s laughing at us, now we can laugh at them. :lol:

i can get 500+ miles left in my raptor, too. no tears here......:thumber:

I can get 500+ on a tank and stomp V8s all day long.

Honestly, I don't see why this is even a worry/conversation in the truck community. The conversation has really shifted from "how much can I haul," or "what HP/torque does this thing have," to "what MPG am I going to get." I could understand if it were a difference between 10 MPG and 40 MPG. That would be quite significant and worth looking into. Otherwise, I bought a truck to do truck things. I didn't buy a truck to get me 40 MPG and be "environmentally friendly." I'm not worried if I get 15 MPG vs. 23 MPG (or whatever the Ecoboost and V6 community is getting). If I wanted a vehicle that got good gas mileage, I guess I would get a Prius. If people with V8s are seriously complaining about MPG, then they should go buy a hybrid car or something. Personally, MPG is the last thing I consider in a truck. After all, IT'S A TRUCK.
For what it's worth, I have a V8 and get 450+ miles per tank. Granted, it's a 36 gallon tank :D |

I'm in that group too, its a pretty funny read. It just full of rednecks that think everything aftermarket is a God send. They love their WAI's and fartmaster. There is no reasoning with them. I think we are fighting a losing battle.

Ive gotten up to 520 miles on a tank and i only have the 26 gallon tank :D.
And my lil 3.5 whoops up on most of these big manly sounding v8's :banana: |
My truck and my car have V8s and I wouldn't want it any other way! Maybe after the dumocrats completely kill the economy, I'll have to switch to a Fiesta.

I put 62,000 on my truck in two years, so mpg is important to me, for sure. Also, having a truck when I need it is very important. How many miles I get per tank is of no concern to me since I fill up well before I run it low, but averaging 19 mpg over that 62,000 is important.

But come on that 5" stack alot of those guys run must help make up for loss of mpg with big tires right? Haha

That's some 20" lift on 44s with 3.31 (or like 2.56) gears on a 4.6 mileage right there.
