Confusion about CPS
Confusion about CPS
Okay...so I know this has been covered a thousand times, but I can't find exactly what I'm looking for.
I'm changing out the head gasket, and timing cover gasket along with several other things on my '99 4.2 and I decided to go ahead and buy a new CPS as a preventative measure since I had everything apart. I did not make any marks, and the new CPS has an alignment tool included.
Do i set at TDC, use the alignment tool, and just stab the CPS? I've seen several posts that I need to set the cam back a certain degree, and then I've seen something about setting the CPS at 54 deg...but 54 deg to what? Seems very confusing. There is a lot of write ups about marking the sensor, but I can't find much about setting one from scratch, and the Haynes manual is beyond useless on this subject.
Does anybody have some advice...or a link that I could follow for a step by step?
