2006 F150 XL 4.2 mileage question??

Hi guys i have a 06 with the 4.2l 5 speed standard. I am getting around 500km per tank (310 miles) out of the 95 litre (25 gallon) tank. Now that to me doesn't sound too bad but i'm just asking for comparison sake what everyone else gets?

I'm also running 22" rims with 305 tires would that make a ton of difference? If so would a tuner help??

Thanks for the help guys!

So we can convert that to US miles per gallon, you need to do some more exact math. Fill it up, note the km. Drive it, fill it up again, note how many km you traveled and how many liters it took to fill it. You say you are getting 310 miles out of a tank, but unless you are literally running it dry, you are not using 25 gallons to go that far.

Also, have you corrected the speedometer/odometer for the oversize tires? If not, drive it at least 25 km on a road with markers, how far off is it?

A tuner probably won't help your mileage, but you need one to correct the speedo/odo.

Okay thanks for the help! So switching the odometer/speedo what exactly does that mean? Is it that the taller tires are going a farther distance? And next time I get gas I'll do the calculation for mpg!!

It means that with taller tires, your speedo and odo will be registering lower than they should. You need to know your correction factors so you don't get a speeding ticket! Best way to correct the speedo is compare it to a GPS.
