Another Ecoboost mpg 12.2
I have never run premium in my eb. I don't think you will gain enough to offset the price difference.
I did just make a run on Wednesday that happened to be the exact same run I made the very first day I had this truck Dec 29th. I drove 380 miles round trip both times. The Dec trip, I got 15.5 mpg. The trip this past Weds, I got 17.9 with the a/c on. Thats a nice increase. Same roads.

Just did a vacation trip from Texas to Colorado and back towing my 4000lb boat. Got 13mpg @ 60mph going up there and 10.5 mpg coming back doing around 68mph. Also had a bit of crosswinds on the way back. Total weight... probably around 5000lbs. All in all I was impressed with the power and mileage. I did have one tank up in Colorado that was unloaded highway driving got 19.7 mpg.
My '12 fx4 with tow package has 60,000km (36,000miles) and im averaging 11.8L/100km (20mpg).. I run 87 octane and average 70 mph on the highway.... If i take it down to 55-60mph, it goes up to 25mpg... no complaints here!
I think the premium might give you a mileage bump, but would it be enough to offset the increased cost of the premium. If its 35 cents more/gallon, then you would have to gain at least 2 mpg across the board to break even. I am not sure it will do that.
Did a road trip to Key West this weekend. Filled up in Homestead and took a leisurely drive down Hwy 1 to Mile Marker 0. Most of the trip is 45-55 mph speed limit with moderate traffic. Sparky the Wonder Truck averaged 26.2 mpg down. After some dense city traffic (suggestion - bring/rent a bike), I cruised back to Tampa. Using Hwy 27 & Hwy 80 I still pulled off 23.3 MPG. My foot got a little heavy on the last leg. i'm at 9500 mi.
So I am coming up on 2000 miles and I am still not able to get above 12.8 mpg. I can drive on the highway at 65mh with the cruise on and I can get about 14.5mpg over a 10 mile stretch, but that is dropping elevation. The same trip back, I get 12mpg.
I have tried Chevron 87, 89 and 93 with no difference between them.
Do I need to start being concerned yet?

That's pretty low, BrianD.
What wheels and tires are you running? How much pressure in the tires?
Hard to explain why your mpg is so bad, unless you have some really big tires on there and not enough air pressure.
Maybe the gas is really bad in your town, or you have a brake dragging or something.
