I have a 2001 F150 V6 and I understand that I am suppose to take off the top piece of the intake manifold but what I am wondering is how can you get to the back bolts near the firewall that are part of the top piece of the intake manifold? Does anybody have any tips or tricks on how to get a socket or wrench back there in the back to remove the top manifold? I think if I could get the top piece off it would be pretty easy to get to the runners/rods/bushings to change parts out.

 

Have you verified that it is in fact stuck open? When I got that code the IMRC was fine, I needed new intake gaskets and isolator bolts.
