Roll Call for those that have new CAC replaced from TSB on EcoBoost
Sound off if you had/have issues with your EcoBoost and have already had the new design CAC installed. Did it resolve you issues?
I have been waiting weeks to get this done. Told by dealer that the new CAC is on "national back order". Mine should be coming in anytime now.
I am preying that this is the fix.

I had the shield installed and the computer flashed and the truck will still misfire in the right conditions. The dealer will not perform the most recent TSB (replace CAC) unless it throws a code. The next time it acts up, I am going to hold the pedal to the floor until the check engine light comes on, the motor blows up, or it starts running like it is supposed to.
My 2006 and 2010 F-150s and my 2009 Focus were much better vehicles than my 2012 F-150 and Focus.

That was my frustration. The dealer didn't believe me because it didn't throw any codes when it would go into "limp mode". Then it finally burnt the CAT and threw codes. My question to them was, what criteria needs to be met for the ECU to make it go into "limp mode" and why don't they have a code to show when it does go into "limp mode". It seems to me that if the ECU is smart enough to shut it down, it would be smart enough to throw a code, or count how many times it throws the code. The ECU only does what it told, so the question should go to Ford engineers who program it.
Hey Guys,
Picked my truck up from the dealer yesterday, dealer said they were going to go ahead and replace the CAC since my truck was miss firing on every cylinder at some time during their test drive. I'm kind of surprised they are replacing it because my truck never threw a check engine light. They told me the check engine light would probably come on at some point with the 0403 code and then they could replace the CAT, but not until it threw the code. My question is whats the longevity going to be on these engines with all this water going through it. I have heard the new CAC hasn't solved the problem entirely, I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of the ECO and going with the 5.0.

I just picked my truck up yesterday from the local dealership. Got the new CAC installed as well as the driver's side cat replaced. It took a lot of complaining and time on the phone to get to this point. The issue hasn't reoccured since, however it hasn't been humid like it normally is when this occurs.
mudmaster- I wouldn't honestly worry about the "water going through it." Its not like your motor is sucking up enough water to lock up the motor or anything. Its literally just enough to trip the sensors and send the truck into limp mode. Thats just my opinion however.

Hey guys I'm new here but found this site when I started googling a issue I have with my 2012 F150. It seems as there is an issue and I guess allot of you have found this to be true, when its very Humid or has rained allot that when you have to stomp the gas to either pass or get outta someones way the Engine all but dies. This has happened twice so far to me first time I was going to pass someone and then engine started misfiring like crazy but no check engine light. The next time was this past week outside of Birmingham Alabama I was entering the interstate from a rest area and the traffic was heavy so I stomped it to get out there and again this happened. I wrote the first time off as maybe bad gas and didn't think a thing again about it but this time I had my family with me and it scared them terribly. So called the dealership and asked what the deal was. Well I have a family member there and he went straight too the Ford tech line. They informed him there was a fix for this and that it will soon be a recall. So at this point I'm waiting on the parts to come in and we'll see. They won't own up to it but it has something to do with the weather. It has only happened twice and both times it had been a monsoon day! Hope this can spread some light on your issues.

Mudmaster- if the truck is missing even during dry conditions your plugs may have fouled out. With all the fuel that gets dumped when the truck goes into limp mode it's very possible that by now the plugs aren't as efficient. You wouldn't be the first to have ford replace them the same time as the CAC swap.
