This is also a known issue with the Mazdaspeed 3 which I believe was Fords first dabble/test bed for DI (so I've read) . Best results were had by switching to Pennzoil Platinum full Synthetic.
Like I said in a previous post that using oils with robust additive packages protect well against the issues the EB is having. I have consistently run my oil over 10,000 mile oil change intervals and my UOA's are indicating normal wear and my viscosity is still in grade. I use the AMSOIL 5w 30 signature series oil.
