2001 F150 Engine Swap

I have 2 2001 F150's. The one has a blown triton engine with an auto trans and 4x4. The other is 2wd, Manual, 6 cylinder. Will the 6 cylinder fit in the truck with the blown triton and mount up or would that not be worth the hassle? Thanks for any advice

The V-6 will not bolt to the V-8 transmission, and the V-6 transmission will not bolt to the 4wd transfer case. That's before you even start talking about electrical issues.

Yes they are, but the bellhousing bolt patterns are different. The V-6 uses the Windsor pattern. The tailshafts are different between 2wd and 4wd.

Stop trying to "save" money DUE TO LACK OF INTERCHANGE you'll be better off replacing the 4.6 or 5.4 so figure out which truck you want to drive and fix that one properly

Yeah, it would be a lot easier to go to the boneyard and get a used 4.6. Cheaper in the long run too, and you will still have a usable 2nd truck.
